Wow. All I can say after reading the book is simply WOW. Dave captures the spirit of what it means to be a Church without ever falling into the trap of describing how to do church. Like a poem, the book is sometimes hard to discern, a bit misty, like a cloud. Those who want something tangible, a 12-step program, are going to be disappointed. But those of us who are tired of structural relics and want to better understand the spirit of life together ... well, we are going to be challenged and encouraged as we sort through what these visions mean to us.
If you are in church ministry, I recommend the book. You might find it unnerving. You might find it silly (especially if you are not the creative type and crave structure). And you might find it idealistic. But you will not find it boring. You will not find it empty. You will not put it down.

I've given out more copies of this in the last 2 months than I can keep track of, and I can't recommend it enough.
It gives language to what I've felt and had no words for. The metaphors, the poetic style, the stories, the humanity, and the glory of God all weave together to prove that we aren't doomed to play a game called church. God actually does stuff for real and we can be caught up in it.
Tread lightly though. Dave has been a "successful" pastor and is willing to say things like:
"I think I have created something that is not after God's heart."
and
"my vision for my church was wrong"
Dave deals with what's real in his heart and his church and his calling. And he helps readers connect to the raw places in their own context.
Be brave. Read it. Pass it on. Dance.

Provides a profound look at today's faith which might have been buried and lost under inadvertent suffocation and misdirection of modern day religious institutions, confronting and identifying issues and providing resolution. Eloquently and simply organized to enlighten, reflect and execute effectively.
