Author Kaitlyn O’Connor was first published by Harlequin Enterprises in 1994 under the pen name of Madris Dupree after nearly a decade of ‘apprenticeship’ --struggling to learn the business, the marketing, and the writing skills necessary for a career in commercial fiction. That ‘first’ published book, a historical, (which was actually her fourth attempt at a marketable piece of fiction) was successful, however, selling nearly 80,000 copies in the U.S., Switzerland, France, and the U.K. She writes various genres (or sub-genres since she always writes romance!) under different pen names. She has written science fiction/futuristic/fantasy under several—Kaitlyn O’Connor, in honor of her Scottish grandmother, Lyssa Hart, and Angelique Anjou (for the French ancestry), all combined here now under the single pen name Kaitlyn O’Connor.

Review
"Four Hearts! Kaitlyn O'Connor has written an intense, futuristic romance that freely roams off the pages into your mind. Her imagery is so crisp, so clear, so convincing that you feel you have been to Orleans. The Claiming is an excellent read for any speculative fiction fans with a taste for not-so-sappy stories of love." The Romance Studio

By Lady Raven RAVE!
I was split in the middle with this book there were things I like and dislike most of it though I enjoyed. Though the author is fusing sci fi with a hint of historal I found it a bit frustrating mainly the character of Jana don't get me wrong she was an enjoyable character at times but very naive and it's understandable base on the planet she was created on. Alain wasn't a bad guy very likable character for me. The main problem I had with the book was the ending I am getting ready for them to resolve their misunderstanding and it took what seem like a paragraph for them to resolve their issue. I hope I don't sound confusing but like I said I'm split in the middle. This is my second book by the author and I really enjoyed the first book I have read by her. I will be reading more from this author.
Everybody has a different opinion when writting a review if we all had the same reviews or opinions it would be boring. Reviews can sometimes down play a really good book or up play a really bad book its up to us to read the book and judge for ourselves and draw our own conclusion thats the best thing about a review its like a silent debate....

Wonderful story!
By Stephanie Oliver
This is a great book with a flair of sci-fi and history. I loved Jana. She had a freshness, an almost naive air despite her life and that brough the ingenue part in the story. Alain was perfectly brooding, possessive and jealous. This is the best I've read from the author.
The writing is so natural. The ideas are explored. It is, of course, full of misunderstanding, but, in an endearing way. The villain was minimal. Alain adored Jana from the start. The second woman had absolutely little effect if any on Jana's emotions. This was important to me because I don't like it when the h becomes jealous or insecure because of another in the H present/past.
The story was very engrossing and hilariously funny.
There is a scene where I was begging the author not to make it uncomfortable and, she didn't disappoint. Alain had his heart on his sleeve the whole time. When he whispered:" Let me make love to you.", anguishly. My god! Just beautiful!
The two reasons I didn't give it five stars:
-Jana didn't bond with the twins enough but, that would have erase a huge part of the book.
-The ending was rather abrupt and I would have love to see Alain comes to believe Jana loves and accept him. I feel they are still arguing and, he is still afraid he is not good enough.
I would love to maybe read Blane story so I can see Jana and Alain settle in their love.
Extremely enjoyable and recommendable. Perfect love scenes which I didn't have to skim-read.
Five stars worthy!

Not my kind of book.
By M. Hickey
The Claiming for me started out great but ended without answering a lot of questions. The main Alain and Jana did not communicate or reach a happy reasolution until the last page of the book. So I am writing this to inform readers who are like me and want the characters to at least get along and talk to one another about there feelings before the last page of the book this is not the book for you. I know it is not the one for me and I will not be reading it again.
